At the Rainbow Bridge
Cleo was my first basset. She introduced
me to the world of bassets. I got her from
a small breeder in 1978. Like many first
time basset owners, she is named after
the famous "Cleo" of the 50s TV show
"The Peoples Choice."

BOW was my first "rescue" basset and
my first obedience basset. That may
sound like a contradiction in terms, but
BOW was very talented. Smart, curious
and fearless. He was great a agility. He
earned his CD in seven trials and was
high scoring basset in the 1996 BHCA
Nationals. He taught me humility. He was
always a gentleman.

The "matriarch" of Saranade
Bassets. A classic basset of noble
birth. She loved everyone and
would go out of her way to make
new friends. She showed me how
graceful and beautiful a basset can
be.
Pepper was my first Champion. Through
him I learned how hard it is to show a
basset. What he lacked in conformation
he made up for in attitude. Cocky and
confident in the ring but a wuss outside of
it. A little old man as a puppy he grew into
big old man. Suspicious of any change,
he would always cock his head
inquisitively at anything out of place.
